This past week we have released two new versions of 2532|Gigs. Both are bug fixes and contains no new features. The first release (v1.1.1 [beta]) fixed several language related bugs in the installer, updateartist, and RSS feed. The last release (v1.1.2 [beta], released yesterday) fixed a few more language bugs and a path bug in the installer which caused the installer to fail. You can download the new version from our website or view the changes in our cvs repo. I wanna thank nodrock for the bug reports.
We have also just released our first Official Language Pack for Slovak. You can download it on our project page as well. We have several other languages in the works (including Spanish and German) and hope to get more released very soon. Keep a look out for them.
We are in active development for v1.2 right now. This version will have a complete rewrite of show_gigs system to include a template system (which I’m currently working on). Nick is working on adding Custom Fields to allow users to create their own fields to show for gigs (ex: ticket price, age, etc). These are the only two major features to be included in this release. We are currently open to suggestions as we are making a roadmap for v1.3 as well. Visit our forums for more. On a side note; we are almost to the 1,000 download mark. We had our first release in mid December 2006 and have since averaged about 200 downloads per month of the script. We should hit the 1,000 download mark this month as we are about 80-90 away.

We recently released v1.1 [beta] of 2532|Gigs and have had several downloads and NO bug reports yet, so we are happy and ready to start the next release. This last release contain tons of new features and a few bug fixes. We added support for multiple artists, improved RSS (total gigs feed or artist feed), database backup (you can import/export your database when updating), custom date format (you can set your date format during install) and of course a language system (we currently have a few people translating the script and the language packs will be released soon).
We are working on a few new things right now. First I’m working on a complete rewrite of the show_gigs format. Basically I plan to add a template system so users will be able to use gig_tags to add the data where they want to. You can read more about it on my post in the forums. Basically I will be separating the xhtml from the php. Which is what I should have done in the first place, but never did, I just hardcoded tables. Another thing we are looking into is adding custom fields. We have had lots of requests to add different fields, everything from age, door time, ticket info, etc. This would require us to add 50+ fields on the Add Gig page. However, we are looking into adding custom fields so users can create their own fields, name them whatever, and include them in their template as needed. I think it would add another level to the script.
On a side note; I am a new developer for MyRadioSite (MRS). MRS is php script that allows you to manage your shoutcast server with ease. Its in early stages at the moment. Currently I am cleaning up the code and writing a user system. I not sure if I will stay a developer on it but I am attempting to help where needed. I have a lot on my plate and the new version of Gigs will take some time and I would like to get started on undergroundCMS by June (if I can get 2532|Gigs to a point where I like it).

Today me and Chase are going camping. This is actually our first father/son camping trip. It should be interesting. We are going with my sisters boyfriend Russell and their daughter Alexis. We should actually be leaving in a little bit. Tomorrow is Chase’s 4th birthday and we are having the party at Chuck E Cheese in Wichita Falls, TX. That should be fun.
I also just posted an update on the worklog. The outside of the case is done (minus a second coat on the back side panel). The widow is cut. Fan holes are cut and all plastic is painted. I have to say it looks pretty good for my first. The paint job doesn’t show up good in the pictures, but trust me its a nice Metallic Black and in the light has a nice glow to it… So, check out the pictures including the before/after shots.

I have been working on Chase’s computer case the past several days and have also updated the worklog with plenty of pictures and information. I have the window cut out in the side panel. The front 120mm fan grill cut out. I have to cut the acrylic today and go buy a 3″ holesaw to drill a 80mm fan hole in the acrylic and on the top of the case. After that its sanding and painting. Then tomorrow I’m hoping to start on the false floor and wall.

Today I finally finished up my Tsunami-Rig, for right now anyways. I hated having the switch for my UV lights in the back. For that reason, I hardly ever turned them on. So, I bought a blue LED Rocker Switch when I ordered the parts for Chase’s computer. I want to make my 2nd 3.5″ bay a custom light control panel. So, the first step was to add the rocker switch. I got the plastic bay cover and taped it off and drilled the hole. Then sanded it down a little and got the switch put in. It was a perfect fit and looks nice. Then came the wiring. This was a little bit of trouble as I had a few things wrong, mainly the ground. Anyways, after awhile I got it working and it fits my case perfect. Makes turning the UV lights on much easier, plus adds another blue LED to the front. I plan on buying 2 more UV lights to put inside, 4″ bars instead of the 12″ I have now. When I do this I will buy the red LED rocker switch to install next to the blue one to control them. Overall I loved the way it turned out. Here is the final picture with the switch on, view picture.
Here are several pictures that I took along the way; Drive Bay Cover [before], Preparing to drill, Drilling done, switch put in, Switch just put in, Empty 3.5″ drive bay, Switch installed, Preparing to wire, Wire setup v1, Final Picture [switch installed and working].
