Just a quick update as I have tons of things to get done today. I put up my modding worklog last night/this morning. You can find it at worklog.twofivethreetwo.com. I have 2 posts on there right now and a few pictures of the case and parts that came in yesterday. Don’t plan to start work on it until this weekend. Check it out, let me know what you think. I will try to post more this weekend.

I am starting my first real/full computer modding project. I’ve been wanting to start one for awhile now and finally have the chance to do it. The computer will be for my son, Chase who turns 4 March 11. I am hoping to have the case work finished by then and then the rest done shortly after that. I will be taking plenty of pictures and creating a worklog here for it. Last night I put the order in for the case and a few parts. That should be here around Friday and I can get started. Here are a few details on what I will be doing (or at least hope to do).
First the case I will be using is a Generic 10-Bay ATX Case which is currently black/silver. I will be painting the case 100% black on the outside (a nice glossy paint, no silver). The inside will be painted a dark blue. On the side panel I will be cutting out a window. I bought the Acrylic as well. There will be a 11×11″ window in the middle towards the back. It will basically show off the motherboard. In the middle of the Acrylic I will be cutting a fan hole and putting an 80mm blue LED fan with this Fire Grill. Then still on the side panel but towards the front of it I will be cutting out CHASE going from top to bottom (it will be in front of where the drive bays are). Then putting a small piece of Acrylic behind it. The plan is to have 2 LED Lazer Lights behind it that will shine his name. On the top I plan to cut another fan hole and will be putting a 80mm blue LED fan with LED fan screws and this Turbine Fan Grill. The front will have a blue 120mm LED fan (which will show through the mesh). The back will have a UV reactive fan.
Inside will be two 12″ UV lights and all cables will be sleeved UV blue. I will be putting an ASUS P4P800-MX Motherboard, Intel 3.0Ghz P4, 1GB Memory, 60GB HDD, and DVD-Writer. He will use onboard audio and video. Its for a 4 year old who spends most of his time online, so I’m not worried about the specs. This is just my first time modding a case.
Anyways, thats mostly it. The once the case gets here and I get it in front of me, I might change some things. I hope to do at least one other modding project in the summer.

I figured I would post whats been keeping me from this site. Mainly its been 2532|Gigs. We have started development on v1.1 with several new features and its been time consuming. So far I’ve been working on form validation to fix a few bugs and now working on adding language support. I’ve got most of the English Language Pack created, I’m just updating the script with the $lang var. Its easy, just a pain going through each file one by one as we didn’t code the script originally to support languages other then English. However we have noticed several non-english sites using the script and had a guy offer to translate it into French and German. So, we are hoping to get language support finished and some language packs release. If you happen to speak another language and could translate the script please contact me. Nick has also added support for multiple artists, which was one of the most requested features since launch. It looks and works great. A few things to work out on it still but its coming. We are also adding more settings like being able to change the date format and more. This goes with making it easy for users around the world to use the script. We have several other things planned for v1.1 but not all will make it. We don’t want to add tons of features at once and the script be full of bug, so we are making sure we get testing done. We do have a list of features that we plan to add, most don’t have release dates yet.
We also just setup a forum for the script at forums.2532gigs.com for support and discussion. We plan on posting development info and updates along with news. I’ve been searching around google to find people using the script and have come across a few. Found us linked in social bookmark sites, one band management site offering the script to their clients and more. Finding people using the script just makes me wanna get the next version finished today. So far the script has been downloaded 250 times since its launch last month with 148 downloads since January 1st. So, the demand for the script is there, we just gotta get some things added to make it great.

Its about time. This project technically started back at the end of 2005 however no coding actually started until early 2006. Nick and myself have been working pretty hard for months now on getting this script out the door and in the hands of the public. We did the final testing the past few days and will be releasing v1.0 [beta] today. I’m actually having problems with the SourceForge File Release System or the release would be up right now. The script is done and has been zipped. It has most of the features we planned on putting in. We left some features out for now mainly to get the first beta release out there and to give us a chance to get the rest finished. You can get more information on our website and wiki at 2532Gigs.com. I’ll update this when I get the release posted on SourceForge, whenever that is.
Edit #1
I was finally able to get the files uploaded to Sourceforge, so its official, after almost a year of developing 2532|Gigs has its first release with v1.0 [beta]. So head over to 2532Gigs.com to check out the demo and download information.
Edit #2
Also, you might notice some changes to the site. This is because i’m in the process of a redesign and reworking some things (including the lightbox thumbnail images for the blog). Which is why they have been removed. Updates to come.

2532|Gigs has been a side project of mine since about May of this year. For those who don’t know, its a php/sql gig lister developed for bands, venues, and music sites. You can find more details on its website or my development page above (click the image to the right for a screenshot). Anyways, this post is because the script is about 90-95% finished. Nick and I have been working hard on it for the past several months and are almost near the first release. I hope it will be worth it. Yesterday I finished the Manage Gigs and Manage Artists section which leaves the mini-calendar (which I’ve almost got done) and then some testing and cleaning up a few things and we should be ready to release the v1.0beta. I am looking for anybody who would like to test the script. It doesn’t matter if you have no use for it, I just need some people to test it in different server environments to find any bugs. You must have php and mysql to test the script (visit the wiki on the website for details on installation requirements). You can see a ‘dev’ version of the script being used on the Southern Aggression Gigs page. If you are interested in helping with some testing post a comment here or email me and I’ll get you a dev copy of the script and some details.

I have been planning a new development project for a few months now called undergroundCMS (formally stageCMS). Its basically a content management system developed for bands and venues. It will contain much of the same features as other systems out there. I haven’t started coding just yet, as I’m in the process of preparing 2532|Gigs for its first release. The CMS will allow bands to create and manage an interactive website and the ability to keep it updated without the need for html. It will be written in php and sql (supporting MySQL). It will also use the SMARTY Template Engine to allow users to implement the system with their current layout. I haven’t used the SMARTY Template Engine on other projects yet, however I have used it before and this will be my first attempt at using it in a project. I plan on starting development on this anytime between now and January 2007 (depending on what I can get done with 2532|Gigs). I will be looking to add a few developers to this project in the coming weeks, so if anybody is interested and knows php, sql (mainly MySQL), ajax, and xml (although mainly php and sql) just email me. I would prefer to have developers who would have a use for the script, however its not a must.
