We spend a lot of time watching TV shows. A few our TiVo catches and the rest I stream from the laptop to the Xbox 360. We just don’t have the time to spend watching tv when the networks want us to so we hardly ever watch live tv. I recently got Season 1 of Jericho. I had heard of Jericho but had never watched it and didn’t know much about it. After reading that a few people I follow were excited for season 2 and reading more about the show it grabbed my attention. So, we had to get season one. We are about half way through the season and I gotta say its an awesome show. I’m lovin’ the characters, the plot, the mystery and the sub-plots. We hope to finish season one in time for season two. Another show that I have never watched but just got the first season of is ‘Dexter’. We plan to start watching it after we finish Jericho. Since the WGA Strike has limited most of the shows we do watch during the Fall/Spring to just a few final episodes (like Bones, House, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, etc) we needed something else to fill the void. We don’t watch reality tv at all (however I’m loving American Gladiators so far) so this fills the gap as we watch maybe 2 hours of live tv a week.
On another note; Blog 365 won’t happen for me. Not enough happens around me for me to have something to blog about daily and I don’t want to waste my time and yours on posting minor things of no interest. I know several other people who are also having a problem with quantity vs quality for Blog 365(6) but for me it just won’t work. Posts will pick up next month when I start video blogging though and doing Me Todays (not daily but a few times a week). The redesign is just about done and will be launched sometime in February. I’m not sure when but shooting for the middle of the month or the end of the month. Might post a screenshot in the coming days though.

I’ve been working on a wireframe for this site for months. Actually started it last summer and have trashed several versions of a redesign. I think I have finally gotten a design that I like and plan to actually finish and put online. My plan is to get it finished and up in February. I am making several changes for 2008 and even more next month and figure its the best time to launch a new design. I’m not ready to post a screen of it yet but a few select people have seen it and I’m looking forward to their opinions and we will see how things go from there. So, look forward to a redesign sometime next month.

Everybody needs inspiration and I’ve browsed around hundreds of business card designs in the past always looking for more. You can find several great pools on flickr with plenty of great business cards and moo cards. After reading a post on the Project Designs Blog of some inspiring cards he has found I felt like posting my own. My new business cards were printed recently but have not gotten here. They are due here tomorrow so I will be posting them then.

Some original cards. My favorite are carpal tunnel and brother in law. Original here

This is one of my personal favorites.

Creative and clean.

I’ve always loved these and wouldn’t mind one like this myself. To the point.

Much like the above its clean, simple and to the point.

Seen lots of cut-outs and this is one of the few that still look great.

Another favorite that is simple, clean with all the information needed.

As the inspiration for this post ProjectDesigns also has a clean card.

Most ‘grunge’ style cards just don’t work but this one looks great and the inverted sides are perfect.

When cards mimic the name.

And last but not least a simple way to let people know your out of business cards.

I attempt to keep my desk clutter free as I am always more productive with an organized and clutter free desk. However, it doesn’t always stay like that. I have good wire management and keep most hide however as most know its impossible to hide them all. I love my current desk and its made it easy to keep it organized and its plenty big enough (currently supports my Dell 22″ WS LCD and HP 19″ CRT). I am browsing around for a new desk though. I figure since I’m moving to an iMac it would be nice to have a new desk to go along with it and one that is not black as my current. I am currently looking at this one from Ikea. I love that you can adjust everything and its the price range I wanted. I’ve looked at several desks over the last several weeks and this seems to be the one I will be getting. During the process of looking at desks I came across a site called decluttered.com which shows one mans way to organize and wire manage his desk along with a tutorial. I gotta say it makes it look nice. I’m not sure that I would put my router, external HDD, etc like that but a smaller piece of board that I can use cable ties to keep cables off the floor and out of my way. We plan on making a trip to Ikea soon (my first) as now we have one just under 2 hours away in Frisco, TX to pick up the desk and maybe a few other things.

As I posted yesterday we finally bought tickets to Playhouse Disney Live! for January 26 at the Memorial Auditorium at the Wichita Falls MPEC. This will be the first bigger event that we have taken the kids to. Chase, my 4 year old son, is looking forward to it a lot as well as Rachael, my 2 year old daughter. I’m looking forward to taking the kids however I’m not sure about watching Mickey Mouse for 2 hours or being around that many kids for that long. It will be interesting. I don’t mind Chuck E. Cheese as the kids love it and who doesn’t love Skee Ball. 4 tickets for Disney Live came to be $160 which wasn’t that bad. Of course today Melissa finds out the Doodlebops are going to be in OKC the day after. Thank god we already bought the Disney tickets, I’m not sure I could handle the Doodlebops.

We have had a TiVo for awhile now and honestly couldn’t live without. Granted I also use my computer to keep up on our TV shows during the fall season as the TiVo can only record so many and we only have a single tuner Series 2 at the moment. We hardly ever watch live tv anymore. If there isn’t something already sitting on the TiVo to watch we normally don’t watch TV. Not that we spend a lot of time on TV anyways, we spend far more on the internet. My kids have become addicted to TiVo over the past several months when my 4 year old son learned to use the remote and skip his commercials during shows. Both kids (including my 2 year old daughter) can not stand to watch commercials and can not stand live tv anymore. They don’t have a TiVo in their bedroom yet and it just bugs them all day long. It looks like we will be looking to purchase a dual tuner TiVo for the living room and moving ours to their bedroom soon.
In other news we just bought tickets to Playhouse Disney LIVE at the Wichita Falls MPEC for January 26. The price came to $160 but we are in the second row from the stage and have end seats, so it was worth it. Looking forward to it.
